Fashion Envie’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” Debuts During NYC’s Earth Week 2014

Fashion Envie began as an idea in 2012 and by 2014, Beau Monde Society has successfully installled 2 eco-collective fashion and art presentations in New York City during Earth Week. This year’s theme came about during my research last year–not so much into the trends but alas, the bohemian influences in fashion this year has gone unnoticed. I decided to call this year’s eco-collective “Bohemian Rhapsody” because I loved the freedom of it– flowers and nature that awakens the beauty in all of us. From reusing our makeshift Green Wall and flowers from last year’s Midsummer Jungle, my team and I were able to transform the space to fit the Bohemian getaway in the middle of NYC’s high line park. Returning on our lineup for the second time is JWhite Original and Katra Awad Jewelry and Alita Daniels for Silly Simone. The location this year was the Denise Bibro Fine Art Platform Space in Chelsea, NY–with its walls adorned by paintings that took on the ethical approach and others that were evident to fit our sustainable message such as Courtney Puckett’s reclaimed sculpted pieces.

With the support of our amazing event sponsors; One With Nature, Priti NYC, and J.F Lazartigue, Oasis Juice Bar, Dining With Grace, R.E.M Media Productions, and Applause Africa. BMS partnered with Wecyclers, a social venture organization based in Nigeria that aims to reduce waste in one of Africa’s most populous city, Lagos. WeCyclers created an incentive program where people receive small gifts in return for their trash in an effort to curb the urban waste crisis. WeCyclers’ founder Bilikiss Adebiyi, an MIT graduate has been recognized for her efforts as well as receiving support from her alma mater, the Cartier Women’s Initiative award and  Tech Awards in 2013. Our event partners include The Creative Era, Denise Bibro Fine Art Platform Space, and Akiyo Henna INC.
